The first known mariners of Europe made their way from the mainland of Greece to the island of Crete 130,000 years ago. Archaeologists have found stone tools that indicate they travelled over the Mediterranean Sea on a raft.
On the 17th of July 2014, TheFirstMarinersExpeditions.com re-enacted that first journey on a raft they built using stone-age methods and tools. This solo ukelele and voice performance features that very raft, docked in Crete the day after the crew completed the 100 kilometre trip across the open sea from Kythera.
